Inaugural of 32nd CBCI Plenary Meeting at St. Johns

CBCI Plenary Assembly began in Bangalore, St.Johns Medical College on 2nd March 2016 with an inaugural concelebrated Holy Mass presided over by the Apostolic Nuncio to India, Archbishop Salvatore Pennacchio along with cardinals, Archbishops, Bishops and Priests. The CBCI holds the Plenary Assembly once in two years to discuss the various aspects of the life of the Church in India. This year 180 Bishops from all the Dioceses of India will deliberate on the theme, “The Response of the Church in India to the Present Day Challenges” at the Plenary. Messages from the Pope and the President of India were read in the Inaugural Meeting, presided over by the CBCI President Cardinal Baselios Cleemis. Archbishop Pennacchio delivered the Inaugural Address. Archbishop Bernard Moras, the local ordinary of the Hosting Diocese gave welcome address to the delicate and gathering for the CBCI Assembly in Bangalore and Cardinal Donald Wuerl, Archbishop of Washington, was the Chief Guest.
