Rev. Fr. C. Selvaraj was born in Bangalore on 5th November, 1955 and was baptized on 27th November, 1955 at Holy Ghost Church, Bangalore. His Parents are Mr. Chowrappa and Mrs. Mariamma who are blessed with five Children (3 boys and 2 girls) and Fr. Selvaraj was the 4th child.

Fr. He was ordained a Priest on 2nd June, 1983 by the former Archbishop of Bangalore, the Most Rev. Dr. Packiam   Arokiasamy. He was the first priest from the Holy Ghost Parish for the Archdiocese.

Rev. Fr. C. Selvaraj (Chasara) died on 16th March at 4 a.m. at St. Philomena’s Hospital due to Acute Pancreatitis and Ischemic Heart Disease. His body was shifted to St. John’s Medical College Hospital Mortuary and will be taken to St. Joseph’s Church, Briand Square, Chamarajpet, this afternoon at 4.30 p.m. for the public to pay their last respects.

According to his wish and as requested by his family members, the Funeral Service will be held at St. Joseph’s Church, Briand Square, on 17th March at 10 a.m. and thereafter his mortal remains will be shifted to O.L. of Mount Carmel Parish Cemetery, Mariapura,  for burial.

When I was informed of his admission to St. Philomena’s Hospital on 15th March, I went to see him in the evening, and also administered to him the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick on 16th March morning. We never thought that his end would come so soon.

In his last Will dated 21st October, 2015, he had mentioned: “Archbishop should not say the Requiem mass for me.” However, a Holy Mass for the repose of his soul will be offered by me on 17th March at 8.00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church, Richmond Town.
