Altar Servers participate in Vocation Camp
Bengaluru, Nov 27th: The new team of the Bangalore Archdiocesan Vocation Commission conducted a Vocation Camp for Altar servers of the Cathedral Deanery at Ascension Church Parish Hall on November 27, 2016.
Fr. Christopher Vimalraj, Secretary of the Commission for Vocations and Rector of the Archdiocesan Minor Seminary welcomed the Chief Guest Fr. Abraham Joseph, the Joint secretaries Fr. Martin Anil, Fr. Arun Santhosh, the altar servers, regents Brothers, Br. Kanika Dass, Br. Daniel Irudayanadhan, Br. Joe Prem Britto and Mrs. Jeannette D’Souza, and her co-members from the Bangalore Chapter of the Serra (Vocation) Club.
Participants were led in by prayer by Fr. Abraham Joseph and later watched a film on priesthood, presented by Fr. Martin Anil. Jeanette D`Souza spoke on the dos’ and don’ts for the altar servers. Participants were enthralled during a quiz on various subjects including identifying biblical characters from pictures and things involved in altar service. The quiz was organized by Fr. Arun Santhosh. The altar servers revealed their remarkable knowledge of the Bible.
After a fellowship lunch Bhakti Bhavan seminarians staged a skit on a young man who converted and became a priest after the example of St. Augustine and his own Parish Priest. The seminarians also demonstrated the duties of the altar servers in line with the existing liturgical norms of the Catholic Church.
A group discussion and workshop on priesthood and religious life was conducted while the girls were animated by the sisters from Schoenstatt Convent. 26 boys and 9 girls evinced a keen interest in pursuing a vocation to priesthood and religious life.
The vocation camp ended with a Adoration and Benediction at the Ascension Church.
