Mentally Challenged receive Archbishop’s blessing at Cottelengo Special School

img-20161205-wa0007Bengaluru,Dec 05: At least 120 people were present for the Eucharistic Celebration December 5th, at the Convent of the Sisters of Cottelengo in Whitefield where mentally-challenged children are taken care of. Fr. Paneer Selvakumar, Secretary to the Archbishop joined the Archbishop in the Holy Mass in praying for the convent nuns, the benefactors, (some of whom are converts), volunteers and well-wishers associated with the work of the nuns.

img-20161205-wa0008Archbishop Dr. Bernard Moras at the mass marking the closing of the year of mercy emphasized “the Holy father has a special love for children.  Pope Francis called the mentally and physically challenged as ‘treasures of the world’ at a gathering of 5000 disabled attending a meeting at St. Paul’s Hall in the Vatican”. “We in the Archdiocese are also reaching out to the differently abled with a special commission to address their needs” the Archbishop said, adding “to be merciful like the father is to reach out especially to those challenged and helpless like the paralyzed man in the gospels”.
