Archbishop Presides Blessed Charles de Foucauld death centenary in Bangalore

cf2Bengaluru, Dec 12: At least 150 people gathered to commemorate the Death Centenary of Blessed Brother Charles de Foucauld at NBCLC, December 11th. Brother Charles de Foucauld who was beatified on November 13, 2005 has been an inspiration in the Fraternity of Priests across the world that seeks to emulate his spirituality. Fr. Sagayanathan from Bangalore Archdiocese, who authored ‘Burning Bush of the Sahara’ recalled for the gathering the similarity of Charles de Foucauld to that of St. Francis of Assisi. “In his life, we see the immeasurable value of power hidden in poverty, simplicity, vulnerability, self-gift, abjection and abandonment”.

The message of Charles, Fr. Sagayanathan said is “Let us go back to the gospel if we do not go back to gospel, Jesus does not live in us”.

cf1Archbishop Dr. Bernard Moras in his message said “The Holy Father hopes that all will follow the example of Blessed Charles who lived a quiet life influencing those around him in their ordinary and daily lives”.  “Blessed Charles of desiring to be a ‘universal brother’ reveals the importance of being close to the poor and abandoned and demonstrates the worth and dignity of humanity” the Archbishop said, urging people to follow in the footsteps of Blessed Charles.

Bangalore Archdiocesan priests who belong to the fraternity, Frs.Joseph Susainathan, Sagayanathan, Bhaskar and Maria Selvan and reknowned French-born Scripture Scholar Lucien Legrand were present to co-ordinate the 3 hour program that ended 7.30 pm.
