Archbishop thanks Priests and laity on 20th Episcopal Anniversary

Bengaluru, Feb 26: At a con-celebrated Holy Mass at the clergy home chapel on Feb 25th, Archbishop Dr. Bernard Moras acknowledging his calling said “God chooses his shepherds not because they have some special merits above other men but simply and plainly he wants them”. Attributing thanks for the co-operation of priests, religious and laity the Prelate in his introduction at the Holy Eucharistic celebration said that he was much pleased with the support the Faithful gave him in shepherding the Archdiocese of Bangalore. “I was born to shepherd the flock of Belgaum Diocese but God called me to serve Bangalore Archdiocese in His own time. I have done what has willed me to do and am grateful for His blessings through so many people”.

By the will of God Archbishop Moras was raised to office by Cardinal Simon Pimenta on 25th 1997 and was installed in office at St. Paul’s School grounds in Belgaum. Ever since, his administrative skills and keen eye on education for the poor have been applauded by people beyond Christian circles, his establishment of the ASHA Trust in Bangalore Archdiocese has provided high school education to over 10,000 children.

In a tete-a-tete the Prelate mentioned that nothing will stop him from serving the people of God. His pastoral activities have been covered by Radio Vaticana including his recent initiative to provide succor to hurting couples.

Fr. Martin Antony, Director of Paalanaa Bhavana, the Archdiocesan Pastoral Center recounted  vividly how the Archbishop has been a beacon  of hope to those in trouble adding that the Archbishop ‘cares for those in distress and has a special love for those in need of support for education.
