Bangalore’s Cathedral to have an Adoration Chapel soon

Bengaluru, Feb 26: Braving a hectic minute-to-minute schedule Archbishop Dr. Bernard Moras headed to St. Francis Xavier Cathedral to lay the foundation stone for the Adoration Center shortly after he commemorated his 20th Episcopal anniversary at the clergy home chapel. In the presence of Vicar General Monsignor S. Jayanathan, Rev. Fr. A. S. Anthonyswamy, Parish Priest and Chancellor of the Archdiocese and several lay faithful including morning-walkers, parish council members, members from various pious associations and children from near-by schools Archbishop Dr. Bernard Moras reiterated the need for Adoration Chapels .

“Many people often asked me why should there be an adoration chapel within a church… But we need to understand that there are many liturgical celebrations in the church and so it is not appropriate and possible to expose the Blessed Sacrament frequently. So an exclusive place to venerate Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is appropriate”. Rev. Monsignor  S. Jayanathan  explained vividly to the gathering the meaning of the ‘time capsule’ which encapuslates  in a container relics and themes for the year that will be opened  once in  50 years at the discretion or delegation of the local ordinary. The Prelate invited priests, religious superiors and even children to join him in laying the foundation stone for the adoration chapel which have a semblance to the Cathedral. Architect Nikki Thomas was present among the Archdiocesan curia for the inauguration.
