Flag Hoisting of St. Mary’s Basilica

The famous and well known Shrine of St. Mary Basilica situated at Shivajinagar, began the feast of the Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary with a flag hoisting by His Grace Most Rev. Dr. Bernard Moras, on 29^th August 2017, at 5:30 pm. Thousands of devotees both Catholics and non Catholics gathered around the Shrine with great devotion to seek the blessings of our Lady of Good Health.

The Parish Priest Rev. Fr. John Rose welcomed Most Rev. Dr. Bernard Moras the Archbishop of Bangalore, the Chief Guest of the day Honorable Minister for Urban development Shri. K. J George, Shri. Basavaraj (Byrathi), Krishnarajapuram M.L.A and all the other gathered. Having felicitated the Chief Guest, M.L.A, Corporator etc, the Archbishop Most Rev. Dr. Bernard Moras released the calendar of St. Mary’s Basilica for the year 2018 and devotional CDs in both the languages Kannada and Tamil.

Addressing thousand of devotees the Archbishop Most Rev. Dr. Bernard Moras said, “This year the Universal Church celebrates the Centenary year of the Apparition of our Lady of Fatima. The Holy Father Pope Francis through this call communicates the whole World that all those who come to St. Mary will always be taken care. She is not only the Mother of Christians but also the Mother of all. Therefore Archbishop Bernard Moras called upon to have faith, trust and confidence in Mary the Mother of God.”

The flag hoisting ceremony ended up with an exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and the Benediction of the same by the Archbishop Most Rev Dr. Bernard  Moras.
