Divine Mercy Convention

A few months back, Archbishop Most Rev. Dr. Bernard Moras laid the foundation stone of the Divine Mercy Retreat Centre, the first of its kind in the Archdiocese. The venue of the Centre was identified at a piece of land adjutant to Our lady of Lourdes Church, Cambridge Layout, Bangalore.

As per the desire of the Archbishop, it was decided to organise a convention at the site of the Divine Mercy Retreat Centre. Accordingly, the BCCRS and the Our lady of Lourdes parish took the responsibility of conducting the convention. A committee headed by Rev. Fr. Norman Bernard and Rev. Fr. Britto Jacob and their teams started working the same.

The convention was preached on 27th, 29th and 30th October 2017, led by Rev. Fr. Augustine Vallooran, Director, Divine Retreat Centre, Muringoor, Chalakudy. Participation on the three days were 1500, 2200 and 3200 persons respectively, which was more than our expectations.

While initially a shamiyana with a capacity of 2000 persons was installed, it had to be expanded to 4000 the second day. All participants were given lunch on 29th and 30th. Faithful came from across the diocese as Praise & Worship and summary of talks were given in Kannada and Tamil, which was much appreciated by the participants. The team felt very much at home and the sessions were very anointed and uplifting.

The Holy Mass and Adoration each day was miraculous with many healings and deliverance reported. Many faithful came up and shared their testimonies on the last day.  The convention concluded with the Archbishop celebrating Holy Mass, concelebrated by many priests including representatives from both Renewal Retreat Centre and Logos retreat Centre. During the sermon, the Archbishop stressed on the need to be charitable towards the poor as we observe the World day of Poor.
