“67th Founders and Flag Day of Bharath Scout and Guide of Karnataka”

07th November 2017: “Let the little Children come to me for them belongs the Kingdom of God”

This word of Our Lord Jesus was brought into reality, On Tuesday of November 07th 2017. It was a great day where Children from St Joseph’s School Coles Park, St Joseph’s Convent Girls High School R.T.C and BalagangadharnathaSwamiji International School, Rajarajeshwarinagar, came to meet His Grace Most Rev Dr Bernard Moras the Archbishop of Bangalore, along with Mr P.G.R. Sindhia, the former Minister for Home, Transport and Finance, Mr Mahesh Joshi the former Director General of Dooradarshan, Mr Venkatesh the office bearer and Head Quarter’s Commissioner, Mrs Rani Gabbadi the office bearer,  Mr Lokesh The State Training Commissioner of Scouts and Guides, Mr Kripa Vijay, the Secretary of Shivajinagar local association for Scout and Guide.

It was an auspious day for all, as it marked the 67th year of Founders and Flag day of Bharath Scout and Guide of Karnataka. It was Lord Baden Powel who startedthe Scout and Guide in England in 1907 with twenty boys. The purpose of this initiative is to develop the leadership qualities and to instill in children the qualities of service and citizenship. To support this initiative Archbishop also assured His spiritual support and by offering some monetary support he showed His concern for the welfare of Bharath Scout and Guide in Karnataka.

His Grace Most Rev Dr Bernard Moras the Archbishop of Bangalore, while addressing these dignitaries and students said, “The Catholic education institutions always encourage the Scouts and guides to promote discipline”. Further the Prelate said “We must turn our focus towards the poor. The Holy Mother Church is showing her affection to the poor through Pope Francis (The Universal Catholic Church dedicated the world day for the poor on19th November 2017).  by dedicating a day for the poor. Archbishop also said the church in Bangalore is also going to have many programs for the same in the Archdiocese under the banner of St Vincent de Paul society. Archbishop citing the instance in the Bible said, “We must go and help the “poor lazar who is at our door step” by this he meant not Mr Lazar but anyone who is poor and needs our service”.  This short meeting of the above mentioned dignitaries and Scout and Guide with His Grace the Archbishop ended up with the refreshments.
