SANNIDHI –ALTAR SERVERS CAMP

Sannidhi – Altar Server’s Camp was organized by the Archdiocesan Vocation Commission on Sunday, 8th April 2018 at Pallanna Bhavana. Thirty-nine Parishes from nine urban Deaneries of Bangalore Archdiocese took part in this camp. There were over 700 Altar Servers who participated in this camp. The vocation commission had taken this initiative to bring all the Altar servers together under one roof to motivate and encourage them and train them as altar servers and to respond positively if they feel called to the priesthood or religious life.

Our beloved Archbishop celebrated the Holy Mass for the Altar Servers in the camp at 11:30 am. His Grace in his homily said, that our little acts will help the Church to glow gloriously after the example of Peter and John. He also requested the children to pray every day for the priests and religious sisters and for the church. Fr. Christopher Vimalraj thanked the Archbishop for his support to Sannidhi and for having celebrated this Holy Mass for the altar servers.

The Altar servers were divided according to their age into five groups. The members of the Serra Club volunteered to assist the Vocation Commission in this endeavour. Fr. Christopher Vimalraj, Fr. Martin Fr. Viven, Sisters of Tarbes and Members of the Serra Club animated the sessions for the various groups. There were numerous competitions and games conducted for the participants and also practical lessons on ‘How to serve at the Altar.’ A sumptuous lunch was served for all the participants.

In the afternoon senior altar servers attended a workshop on how to respond to God’s call to be priests. Thirty-five altar servers expressed their wish to join the seminary. Sannidhi not only promoted vocations to priesthood and religious life but also to the vocation of being a good Christian and contribute to society at large. The camp concluded with tea and snacks for the participants.
