ANNUAL REPORT-2015-2016
A very good morning to our bishop most rev. Dr. Bernad moris, vicar general,Rev. Fr. Mari joseph,-Karnataka executive youth director, Rev. Fr. Maria antony- director of Palana bhavan, Rev. Fr, Anand gnana Xavier- assist. Director of palana bhavan rev.fr. Santosh, president of bible and catetechs, principals, teachers and students of various institutions.
With immense joy stand before u all today to present the annual report of the bible and catechism commission for this academic year 2015-16.
Recognizing the need for catechism of these young adults, the commission for catechism and bible under the able leadership of Rev. Fr. Santhosh, had taken up the task of channelizing the youth in the formation of catholic faith.
In view of this the orientation for the college catechism teachers was held on 6th of june 2015, pastoral centre, the archbishops house Bangalore. Eleven colleges participated in this orientation. Rev. Fr. Santhosh, conducted the session. He spoke elaborately about the importance of formation of faith at the college level for the catholic youths.
Further, the syllabus for the first year puc students , the diploma and professional course students , the 1 & 2nd part of YOUCAT book was prescribed and for the 2nd PUC students 3&4th part of YOUCAT book was prescribed.
The oriented attained its completion with the formation of a committee consisting of representatives from the colleges that were a part of this orientation. It was called the core committee.
There were frequent meetings conducted at regular intervals so as to co-ordinate with the teachers for the smooth execution of this initiative.
In the month of October question papers for the annual examination was prepared by the members of the core committee, exclusively by the representatives from Jyothi nivas preuniversity college and st. Germain’s college. After question paper was scrutinized and approved by the commission, it was sent to all the colleges, even to those that did not register themselves with the commission, as an attempt reach out to the maximum no. of youth craving to be rooted in faith.
The annual catechism exam was conducted by the respective colleges on the 10th of dec. 2015. The papers were valuated by the college catechism teachers themselves and the mark list was sent to the commission.
The commission with the help of core committee members Ms. Catherine from JNC and Bro. infant from st. Germain complied the list and extracted the first 3 toppers from each college to be awarded on the annual youcat day.
The core committee members decided to celebrate the youcat annual day on 15th of January 2016, and a circular was sent to the registered colleges regarding the same.
Hence, the bible and catechism commission has successfully fulfilled its set task, in aiding the youth in the formation of their faith. Finally I express my sincere gratitude to all the members of the commission for their co-operation in helping us with this cause.
