4th International Course on Deliverance, 2017

“And these signs will accompany those who believe in my name, they shall cast out demons”                                                                                                                                                                                                      Mark 16:17

The above scripture verse provided the impetus for organizing the 4th International course on deliverance. Many years ago, Bro. Christopher Correya (Director of the Light of Christ Community) had a personal experience when his family struggled with issues that needed deliverance. At that point in time, he ardently desired to learn more about the topic of deliverance which led him to the Vatican City to complete a course on the Ministry of Deliverance. Over the years, he and his wife Catherine have reached out to thousands of people and break free from bondages of the evil.

The principal objectives of the course are:  first, to create awareness about the critical need for deliverance and exorcism, second to empower priest and laity to reach out to people who are suffering and in need of spiritual intervention.

The 4th International Course on Deliverance began with the inaugural Holy Mass celebrated by Monsignor Jayanathan, who emphasized the relevance and the dire need for deliverance in our contemporary society by sharing his recent experience in the form of a video clip. He also stressed upon the importance of the rosary in the ministry deliverance.

Archbishop of Bangalore, Most Rev. Dr Bernard Moras celebrated the Eucharist on the second day of the course. In his inspiring and insightful homily the Archbishop emphasized on the need for deliverance in each and everyone’s personal life. He explained how each of us is engulfed with deliverance issues that we need to recognize and rectify.

Fr. Jacob Britto C.S.s.R, the head of the Charismatic Renewal for the Archdiocese of Bangalore in his opening address to the participants focused on the emergent need in the Catholic Church to be responsive to the spiritual needs of the people requiring deliverance and healing. Fr. Britto elaborately described of the different manifestations of evil as described in the Bible. In addition, he discussed the symptoms of bondage such as state of trance, extreme strength, intestinal disturbances, heighten sexuality, vocal noises, and the like.

Rev Dr. Fr. Marcello Ghirlando,  world renowned Exorcist from Malta, the keynote speaker for the course is a full-time lecturer at the University of Malta in Sacred Scripture (Hebrew & Greek), Faculty of Theology he has worked closely/was trained by renowned exorcist  Rev. Fr. Gabriele Amorth

As the extension of the course an outreach program has been organized for the people of the city of Bengaluru with Eucharist for healing of the family tree on 16th September, 2017 at 5:30 pm,  and holy mass for liberation from bondages to be held on 17th September, 2017 at 5:30 pm.

The total number of participants for the international course is eighty-eight out of which there are twenty-eight priests, one deacon and six religious sisters. This year there are five international participants three form Singapore and two from Rome. Archdioceses of Sagar and Goa have appointed priest and laity to attend the course in order to prepare them for the Ministry of Deliverance. Many priests reported that the inspiration to attend the course was primarily due to the rampant increase in the number of people with issues of deliverance and need for exorcism. The priest also communicated that they felt the need to study about the topic of deliverance as their seminary curriculum lacked information on this important topic which requires intervention.

The international course on Deliverance is just the beginning of a long journey in reaching out to people who are afflicted spiritually, psychologically, physically and morally. The purpose is to ignite the minds and conquer the darkness with the light of Christ.
