Doctor’s Forum of India (Sdfi) Turned Silver on Saturday, 27th January 2018

27th January 2018 was a red letter for the sister doctors of our country as Sister Doctors Forum OF India (SDFI) celebrated its silver jubilee. SDFI emerged from its humble beginnings a quarter of a century ago on 5th June 1993. Today it has grown to be an association of about a thousand members.

Joyous celebrations began with a Thanksgiving Mass celebrated by His Grace, Most Rev. Bernard Moras, Arch Bishop of Bangalore. There were around 240 sister doctors who attended the Jubilee celebrations and the 24th National Conference.

After thanking God and invoking His blessings the Silver Jubilee function began with a Prayer Dance.  His Grace, Most Rev. Bernard Moras, Arch Bishop of Bangalore, presided over this function. The Hon’ble Home Minister of Karnataka – Shri Ramlinga Reddy was the chief guest for the function. Other dignitaries who were present were Archbishop Prakash Mallaparappu – Chairman CBCI health commission, Rev. Dr. Mathew Abraham –Director General CHAI, Rev Fr. Mathew Perumpil – Secretary, CBCI Health Commission, and Rev. Fr. Paul Parathazham, Director St. Johns National Academy of Health Sciences. The Dignitaries addressed the gathering and commended the sister doctors for their tireless efforts and for rendering their service in the remotest corners of our country.

The Jubilee event witnessed the release of the SDFI Souvenir by His Grace, Most Rev. Bernard Moras. The 2nd edition of the SDFI Directory was released by Rev. Fr. Paul Parathazham. The Home Minister Shri Ramalinga Reddy, launched the SDFI website. The launch of the Eastern Region for better working and coordination was carried out by the founder president of SDFI, Sr. Dr. Lillian JMJ.

Continuous Medical Education programmes on the topic of Recent Advances in Diagnostics and Pharmaco-therapeutics was held a day prior to the Jubilee celebration to update the Sister Doctors on the latest trends in this medical field. The evening witnessed the variety entertainment program staged by medical and nursing students of St. Johns Medical College Hospital

This historic event produced camaraderie among the sister doctors, created wonderful memories, and provided an occasion to share a laugh or two. This celebration was another opportunity to think and plan together to make quality health care available, affordable and accessible to the unreached and less reached of our great Nation.
